Our classroom program

We have a behaviorally based, skill-acquisition oriented supervisory training program for you that produces measurable results. How it works
: In this program the learner is told, shown and then practices what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Practice, coaching, and more practice in our four-hour classroom modules which are designed to facilitate behavioral-based acquisition of supervisory skills. Participants document and then develop and practice their own real-world cases, solidifying the transition of learning to where it really counts…on the job.

Results you can measure. This is not esoteric theoretical, knowledge-based supervisory training. This is practical, pragmatic, skill-based training that produces skilled supervisors at every level of leadership in your organization. .

The online component

Blended, reinforcement and refresher training. The cognitive content of the modules has been extracted from the awrd-winning classroom program and placed into our award-winning online program. Your people have access to this reinforcement training for a full year after the classroom training. This wonderful reinforcement training is part of the process that helps people move from a position where they can do the skill after one of our modules, to a position where they will automatically use the skill, because it has been reinforced, and they have received ongoing coaching and support.

When used: The online programs are also superb refresher training and wonderful "ramp up" training for a new supervisor who must begin his or her new job between classes, and a great opportunity for a widely dispersed organization to conduct the cognitive phase of the training, saving time needed in the classroom by using our blended learning process.. Finally, in the very small organizations, many use the online for the cognitive and then allow two or three participants to meet and go through the classroom based workbooks together, doing the in-depth background readings, having the discussions, and doing the skill practices. They achieve 85% to 90% of the value of going through the classroom training with a large group.

Essential Skills of Communicating

This is the second foundational course, and includes some of the skills which present the most difficult challenge for some participants to master...especially the active listening skills. It typically takes from four and half hours to about six hours to complete. Members are told, read about, discuss, present, are shown, discuss and practice the skills required to effectively communicate. They learn and practice skills to create a climate of open communication, they practice and get feedback about managing their nonverbal behaviors, they practice developing clear and specifically targeted messages that address the needs of the recipients, and they experience and practice the art of two-way communication. Even your most experienced leaders profit from the skill practice that occurs here.

Behavioral Styles Report...This optional but highly recommended automated report provides supervisors and managers critical information about their behavioral styles and how they are understood and often misunderstood by others. It identifies strengths and potential blind spots. It provides specific and pragmatic guidance for how to deal with those who are exhibiting differing behavioral styles. Improving Work Habits

These skills are some of the most used. If you ever have people who show up late for work, have hygiene problems, refuse to wear safety equipment, have excessive absenteeism, leave for home early, etc., you need the specific skills to deal with these issues before they become a disciplinary problem or severely impact employee morale. Providing Performance Feedback

Communicating Up

Ask the boss of any participant who has attended this training what they notice most about the change in the graduate. Almost always, the boss points to these skills. In this module, participants learn the importance of identifying and finding solutions to the problems they face, then taking their ideas...the problems with a discussion of possible solutions and a recommendations and even some action implementers thrown in for good measure...to the boss.
